TCPMP and AC3 codec for Windows Mobile 6.1
TCPMP is a free open source Media Player for Windows Mobile. However, it has been discontinued and replaced by Core Player which is no longer free. The last version of TCPMP downloadable from the official website crashes at startup on WM 6.1. Although patched versions of TCPMP for WM 6.1 can be found on the Internet, plug-ins that comes with these versions are not fully patched and may not be able to run. An example is AC3 plug-in, which crashes TCPMP or even reboots the device when a movie with AC3 audio is played. Core Player, on the other hand, does not yet support AC3.
I attached a patched version of TCPMP with patched AC3 codec. This version can run smoothly on a wide variety of WM 6.1 devices, including Omnia, Omnia 2 and the Acer F900.
I'm glad I came across this post. I'm running a WM6.1 custom ROM (CrossbowHD2 v0.8.2) on a HTC HD2 and was looking for way to playback AC3 encoded videos.
Your patched TCPMP works great so long as one remembers to set the TCPMP Options under Video to either GDI or Raw FrameBuffer. Playback quality for both video and audio is awesome. Big thank you!
P.S. I've linked your post from XDA Developers where a few others were facing the same problem. Cheers.
I am glad the patched version works for you. Thanks for the suggestion of changing the Video options. Cheers
thank u sooooo much
